Food Pantry Donation Considerations

Anora Eldorath started this conversation

The following list is something I pulled from a Betty Crocker Cookbook and it truly is a good list to consider when donating to your local food pantry. (Check to make sure they have refrigerators if you donate items that need to be kept cold).

Basic Groceries (From Betty Crocker cookbook page 434)

Sugar

All Purpose Flour

Salt

Pepper

Baking Powder

Baking Soda

Coffee/Tea

Shortening

Cooking Oil

Butter/margerine

Herbs and Spices

Vanilla

Unsweetened cocoa powder

Mayonnaise/Salad dressing

Prepared mustard

Worchestershire sauce

Ketchup/catsup

Bread

Cereals

Pastas

Eggs

Meat

Salad greens

Vegetables

Fruits

Cheese

Juices

Milk

(Keep in mind that canned foods keep for a year, generally speaking. Do keep in mind expiration dates, even though most foods can be used after the date, some foods can't and it's not fun for a family to get foods that are all expired and spoiled).
